The City of Miramichi received a rating of 4 Blooms and a special mention at the 2024 Communities in Bloom Symposium and Awards Ceremonies.

The City of Miramichi received a rating of 4 Blooms and a special mention for Bringing People Together with Beautiful Greenspaces during the 2024 Communities in Bloom Symposium and Awards Ceremonies in the City of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The City of Miramichi participated in the Atlantic Edition - Population Evaluated category along with Alnwick NB; Carbonear NL; Chipman NB; Come By Chance NL; Mahone Bay NS; New Maryland NB; Pilley's Island NL; and Woodstock NB.
Over the summer, trained volunteer judges travelled to participating communities to evaluate the overall contributions of municipal council and departments; industry; businesses and the private sector – including volunteer efforts – regarding the following criteria: Community Appearance, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Tree Management, Landscape and Plant & Floral Displays.

Following their evaluation, volunteer judges Berta Briggs and Seville Kwan wrote:
Miramichi is located at the mouth of the Miramichi River, spanning both sides of the waterway. The city is beautifully connected by a network of well-maintained trails, greenspaces, and parks, each thoughtfully designed with specific purposes in mind. From fun, family-friendly parks to heritage and passive parks, each area reflects the culture and character of Miramichi. The landscaping is carefully tailored to the function of each space, with trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf kept in excellent condition. Many parks also honor local historical elements, and the city uses its landscape design to weave together these great spaces, creating the vibrant and welcoming community of Miramichi.
Within the actual context of climate changes and environmental concerns, communities involved in the program can be proud of their efforts, which provide real and meaningful environmental solutions and benefit all of society.
