The Miramichi Pickleball Club has received a City of Miramichi Community Development Grant to support the rapid growth of the game in the city. This funding will be used to purchase balls, nets, and other essential equipment.
Pickleball, a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, has seen a significant surge in popularity in Miramichi. The city is now recognized as one of the fastest-growing pickleball communities in New Brunswick. This grant will not only enhance the playing experience for current members but also support the club’s mission to introduce more residents to this exciting and accessible sport.
Mike Dickinson, President of the Miramichi Pickleball Club, said, “This grant is a testament to the community’s commitment to healthy living and recreation. With the new equipment, we can host more games, improve training sessions, and welcome new players with open arms.”

The City has invested $50,000 for the development of the Golden Hawk Pickleball Courts. An additional $16,000 in funding through the community development grants was used to support the development of the Gretna Green Pickleball courts, the Nordin Pickleball courts, and the purchase of equipment.
The City has also allocated times in its indoor facilities for regular pickleball programming, provided access to equipment, hosted multiple tournaments, and has created a four court pickleball/tennis court system.
“We know Pickleball has become a hugely popular sport here Miramichi with more people playing all the time,” said Mayor Adam Lordon. “Council has been happy to invest in building courts all around the city, and to support the Miramichi Pickleball Club in their ongoing efforts to grow this popular support in our city. We encourage residents to give it a try!”
The Miramichi Pickleball Club invites everyone to join in the fun. For more information on where you can play and details on upcoming workshops designed to teach the basics of pickleball, please visit the Miramichi Pickleball Club's Facebook page.
