City Council Highlights - April 30th, 2024

Miramichi City Council held a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday, April 30th. The following agreements and tenders were approved.
2024-16 - A lease agreement will be executed with Adricecormier Ltd. at the Nelson Mill Wharf to use an 80-foot section of the wharf from May 1st to June 30th, 2024 for a fee of $1,750 plus HST.
Tender 24-013 - Sidewalk Replacement - North Shore Construction Ltd. for $191,388.75 to replace the following sidewalks:

  • Wellington Street from Lobban Avenue to University Avenue

  • University Avenue from St. Thomas Street to NBCC entrance

  • Water Street from Queen Street to Chatham Avenue

  • Maher Street from Winnipeg Cres. to Winnipeg Cres.

  • Douglastown Boulevard - Boston Pizza stop

  • King George Highway - replace Superstore entrances

  • King George Highway from Falconer Street to Lounsbury Street

Tender 24-007 - Anderson Mill Trail Upgrade - Vye Construction and Paving Ltd. for $182,056.50 for the placement of topsoil, hydroseed, and trees.

Tender 24-009A - Vye Construction and Paving Ltd. for Street Resurfacing North 2024 for $979,850.60 to pave the following streets:

NORTH

1. Newcastle Boulevard - Gladstone Avenue to reservoir

2, McWilliams Drive - Gladstone Avenue to Aitken Avenue

3. Jane Street - Pleasant Street to Hotel entrance

4. Fournier Lane

5. Reid Street

6. Kierstead Drive - Grattan Street to southern end

7. Stothart Drive

8. William Street

9. Regina Street

10. Pinewood and Birchwood Lanes

Tender 24-009B - North Shore Construction Ltd. for Street Resurfacing South 2024 for $1,324,259.50 to pave the following streets:

SOUTH

1. Water Street - John Street to Lobban Avenue

2. Henderson Street - Victoria Avenue to Old Station Road

3. McCurdy Street - Wellington Street to Church Street

4. Patterson Street

5. Cunard Street - Howard Street to Church Street

5. Jacqueline Drive - Bremner Drive to LeBreton Drive

7. William Cassidy - Nicol Street to Winslow Street

8. Water Street - Civic 2530 to Tozer Avenue

9. Lynch Street

10. Vince MacKenzie Street

Tender 24-006 - Newcastle Water System Upgrade Project Phases 8 and 9 - North Shore Construction Ltd. for $1,135, 596.25. The work involves various connections along Newcastle Boulevard, sanitary sewer replacement and decommissioning of the existing reservoir.
