City Council Highlights - April 23rd, 2024

Miramichi City Council held two meetings - a Special Council Meeting and Council in Committee Meeting on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024.

Special Council Meeting
The following tenders were approved for the Public Works Department:

Tender 24-028 - Hot-Mix Asphaltic Concrete Roadway Repair was awarded to Vye Construction and Paving Ltd. for $368/tonne for hand laid material HST included, $253/tonne for machine laid material, HST included. Night repairs if required on the King George Highway, h and laid and machine laid at a cost of $425/tonne.

Tender 24-029 - Materials and Equipment was awarded to the following:

250 cubic yard 40 mm crushed gravel North Shore Construction $5,750

300 cubic yard 3/4" screened stone North Shore Construction $6,900

2000 cubic yard Winter Sand North Shore Construction $36,500

Excavator with 20-22 ft boom Goodfellows Trucking $125 per hour

Excavator Brush Cutter Mulching Head Goodfellows Trucking $150 per hour

Small Crawler Tractor Delway Enterprises Ltd. $90 per hour

Tender 24-027 - Equipment Purchase of a Rubber Tire Wheel Loader was awarded to Paul Equipment and Sons for the amount of $367,741.55.

Council in Committee
Council was presented with the detailed interior design of the Miramichi Wellness Multiplex by staff from TEAL Architects and MJMA Architecture and Design. They presented the colour scheme and materials that will be used in each area of the building.
