City Council Highlights for April 15th Regular Council Meeting
At the Regular Council Meeting held on April 15th, 2025, City Council announced two donations towards the multiplex project.
On behalf of the Campton Christie Foundation Inc., Irene Christie donated $300,000 to have the leisure and competition pools named in honour of her parents, Genievive and J. Fraser Kerr.
In recognition of the $250,000 donation to the City of Miramichi that Deborah Lyons made, the gymnasium space will be named in honour of her parents, Rita and Joseph Lyons.
City Council heard from two delegations, Patrick Losier and the Brian, Leo and Janet Sullivan on the proposed Howard Street Development.
City approved a motion to execute lease agreements with Adrice Cormier Limited and MAO Bait Limited at the Nelson Mill Wharf for $1,750 each for a two month period from May 1st to June 30th, 2025. Both companies purchase harvested gaspereaux from local area fishermen.
City Council approved a motion to award Tender 25-010-A Street Resufacing Program North 2025 to Vye Construction & Paving Ltd. in the amount of $ 923,613.44. Streets to be paved are:
Creaghan Avenue
Bannon Road
Tardy Avenue
Williston Road - Civic 277 to Civic 386
Ledden Street - King George Highway to Fountain Head Lane
City Council approved a motion to award Tender 25-01O-B Street Resurfacing Program South 2025 North Shore Construction Limited in the amount of $1,039,588.50. Streets to be paved are:
Water Street - St. Andrews Street to Civic 2162
Barrieau Street - Andrew Street to Raymond Street
Wallace Road - Civic 30 to Civic 68
Water Street - Tozer Avenue to Civic 2706
Bremner Drive - Cedar Street to LeBreton Drive
City Council approved a motion for the Treasurer and Mayor to issue and sell to the New Brunswick Municipal Finance Corporation a Municipality of Miramichi debenture in the principal of $10,748,000 on such terms and conditions as are recommended by the New Brunswick Municipal Finance Corporation.
