Protecting Your Business
Install surveillance cameras and ensure they are in working order.
Keep your business well lit.
Check that all windows and doors are locked when closing your business along with security alarms activated.
Ensure that all employees are familiar with your security system and its importance.
Make regular checks of your business exterior for anything suspicious and report any findings.
Vehicle Protection
Try to park in a well-lit area when your vehicle will be unoccupied.
Never leave your vehicle unlocked or running when unattended.
Keep your valuables out of sight.
Don’t leave Keys in the vehicle even with the doors locked.
Be cautious of your surroundings when returning to an unattended vehicle.
Child Protection
Know where your child is going when they leave your residence and make sure they will be supervised.
Teach your child safety practices and how to recognize a possible dangerous situation.
Promote an open dialog with your children and encourage them to share their experiences with you and any concerns they may have.
Keep a list of your child’s friends with their phone numbers.
Ensure your children know the importance of not accepting gifts or drives from strangers.
Conduct a check on babysitters and caregivers that will be entrusted with your child’s safety.
Get to know your neighborhood and who is living in it.
Become familiar with any possible dangers in your community, traffic/drugs/crime, and educate your child.
Make it your business to know who your child is communicating with online and follow their internet activity.
Educate your child on never opening the door for a stranger, not all bad people look bad.
Travel in groups not alone.
Protecting Your Home and Yourself
Install an in home security/camera system.
Keep the exterior of your home well lit.
Form a neighborhood watch.
Keep your doors and windows locked.
Set timers on your lights to have them come on when you are away from your home.
Avoid walking/jogging alone at night in an unfamiliar area.
Always carry a cell phone and be familiar with emergency contact numbers.
Never leave a drink unattended.
