History

With the amalgamation of two towns and three villages in 1995, the City of Miramichi Fire Department was created; woven with a unique culture of history and traditions from five former Fire Departments:

Town of Newcastle

Town of Chatham

Village of Nelson

Village of Loggieville

Village of Douglastown

The history of these departments is what enriches the City of Miramichi Fire Department and has laid the foundation for the 20th century fire service we have today.
