Ageless Grace
Brain health fitness program.
Where: Golden Hawk Recreation Center

Archery

Adult Badminton
Drop in co-ed adult recreational program offered to all skill levels. Everyone welcome.

Baseball Clinics
Clinics will be offered beginning February 24 to April 28.

Badminton for Seniors
Drop in for an afternoon of badminton. Open to all seniors.

Basketball – Adult Co-ed Pickup

Bingo – Kinsmen Club
Open to ages 16+. Proceeds to the Kinsmen Club of the Miramichi.

Bowling Lanes
The 6 pin bowling lanes are operated by the Seniors Club.

Carpet Bowling – Seniors
Open to seniors, an afternoon of friendly competition and socialization.

Dog Training
Operated by The Leader of the Pack Dog Training School…”Sit Happens” Watch for details on Cara’s new class starting in September.

Farmers Market – Newcastle
Open weekly, offers home-baking, crafts, fresh vegetables and hot lunches all in a friendly atmosphere. Everyone welcome!

Floor Hockey – Men’s
Drop in floor hockey league for adult men, everyone welcome.

Floor Hockey – Youth
Drop in and divided into two age groups. Great opportunity for youth to get active, make new friends and work on hockey skills off the ice.

When: Monday and Wednesday
Ages 9 – 12 years: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Ages 13 – 17 years: 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Girls On The Move
A fun 10 week non-competitive fitness program for girls grades 3-8. For further details, please see the “Youth” section of our brochure.

Session #2: January 24 to April 4

Gymnastics
Offers recreational & competitive training for girls & boys ages 18 mos+. Gym Babies 18 mos-3 yrs; Gym Kids 31/2-5 yrs; Can Gym for school aged and Competitive.
Where: Gymnastic Room, Golden Hawk Recreation Complex
When: Day of the week and time is determined by the class registered

Note : Non-Residents must purchase user fee cards from the Recreation Office in order to participate in Gymnastics prior to registration. Fee is $50 per child; $25 for 2 child; with a maximum of $135/family.

Miramichi Hoops Basketball
Not for profit organization that promotes and runs basketball programs for boys & girls. Miramichi Hoops offers programs for Small Ball (K-2), Junior Mini (grades 3-4), Mini (grades 5-6), Bantam (grades 7-8) and Under 13.

Open Activities
Offered by the Recreation Department, this provides an opportunity to drop by and participate in your favorite activity at your leisure.

When: Monday to Friday 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Saturday 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Sunday 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm until February 17

Pickle Ball
One of the fastest growing sports in North America, cross between badminton, tennis and table tennis. Low impact and lots of fun!

Senior – Walking Central
Offered by the Recreation Department and is open to all seniors on a drop in basis, come out and exercise in a fun, safe and relaxed environment.
Where: Golden Hawk Gym/Teen & Senior Room
When: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Cost: $3.00 user fee per visit or $75.00 seasonal activity pass

Senior – Open Activities
Come out and enjoy a game of cards, pool, ping pong, board games, puzzles or air hockey while visiting the Golden Hawk Recreation Center.

When: Monday and Tuesday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Tai-chi & Quigong
Practicing Tai Chi helps bring about a state of mental calm & clarity as well as provides general health benefits & stress management. Class is open to seniors.

When: Monday , Tuesday & Wednesday 9:30 am – 11:00 am
Cost: $3.00 user fee or $75.00 seasonal activity pass

Taekwondo (The Golden Hawk Martial Arts Academy)
This Club offers classes for children, families and adults in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/defense science.

Taekwondo (Miramichi Tae kwon do Academy)
Family tae kwon do, adult fitness classes, multi-sport speed, balance and agility training as well as competitive sparring classes. Fully sanctioned member of TKDNB and affiliated with the World TaeKwonDo Federation.

When: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 6:30 pm – 7:40 pm

Tots Free Time
Join other parents and their tots for some free time in the gym. Bring your tots to have fun, meet other kids and parents while staying active in the cooler months. Nice addition to Tots Swim.

Use It or Lose It
Open to ages 55 and older. This program recognizes the importance of encouraging active aging and will offer a variety of workshops, presentations and activities which will contribute to participant’s physical health, mental health and allow for socialization to build new friendships. Come out and try some new activities.

Volleyball – Mini (Miramichi Volleyball)
This program is offered to school aged children.

Yoga Fusion – Beginner Yoga
Beginner Yoga classes fuse together yoga poses and stretches with fitness floor activities.

Youth Drop In Night
Open for youth grades 5-12. on a drop-in basis. Youth have access to the gymn, pool and teen room area. See the Youth Program section of the Fall Program Guide.

Zumba Gold
Zumba Gold targets the largest growing segment of the population: baby boomers. It takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant, as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. It’s a dance-fitness class that feels friendly, and most of all, fun!
Where: Golden Hawk Gym
When: Tuesday 11:00 am – 12:00 noon
Cost: $3.00 user fee per visit + instructor fee

The daily user fee of $3 per activity is payable at the door of the individual facility. We also offer the option of purchasing frequent user passes which have 20 punches per card for $50 for a savings of $10 over the paying at the door each time method. The frequent user pass covers any $3 admission whether it be swimming, skating or shinny hockey.
