Privacy Policy Guide

Who we are

The City of Miramichi respects the privacy of its Web visitors. Staff adheres to strict policies that protect the confidentiality of any personal identifiable information such as names, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers.

Our website address is: https://miramichi.org/

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

1. Access to the City web site(s) and use of any of its service features typically do not require providing any personal information whatsoever.

2. “Cookie” technology captures a summary – not individual – information on visitor use patterns. This computer code tracks “traffic” to determine how effective a given page is in meeting information or service needs. Apart from providing a performance measure for the City’s Internet site, the data is otherwise meaningless.

3. A Cookie contains no information that personally identifies visitors to the community’s Web site and is strictly geared to providing internal performance data. The City of Miramichi knows nothing of an Internet visitor browsing path once he or she leaves https://www.miramichi.org

4. The only personal identifying information arising from the use of the City of Miramichi web site is what you supply to us on a voluntary basis. For example, this could be in connection with the following; submitting comments, requesting information or suggestions and/or questions through a feedback form or an e-mail.

You should also note any collection and retention of sensitive personal data, such as data concerning health.

In addition to listing what personal data you collect, you need to note why you collect it. These explanations must note either the legal basis for your data collection and retention or the active consent the user has given.

Personal data is not just created by a user’s interactions with your site. Personal data is also generated from technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, and analytics.
