Miramichi is known for celebrating its culture and heritage at the numerous festivals that take place throughout the year.


Miramichi Striper Cup
May 27 - 29

stripercup.jpgAtlantic Canada's premiere striped bass fishing tournament attracted over 1,000 fishing enthusiasts in 2015, its first year. This "catch and release" tournament features three divisions: Team/Boat - up to 4 people ($150 registration fee); Individual/Shore ($20 registration fee) and Youth (free). A top prize of $5,000 goes to the team that with the heaviest 4 fish (allowed to weigh in 2 fish/day). The longest fish registered over the 2 days of competition takes the Individual/Shore division. Peter Bowman of the popular Fish'n Canada television show said "We have never experienced anything like this in our lives before," while in Miramichi last May filming for their season premier.

Rotary Spring Fest

ribfest.jpgA weekend of food, entertainment and friendly competition hosted by the Rotary Club of Newcastle on the waterfront. in Miramichi. Champion Ribbers offer up savory barbecued ribs, talented local performers provide musical entertainment and teams compete in the Rotary Atlantic Washer Toss Championship and the human foosball tournament.  There are children''s and family activities, fire fighters games and an open air interfaith service.

Multicultural Day

Fishermen Pow wow

Miramichi Rock 'n' Roll Festival
June 30 - July 3

rocknrollcars.jpgThis four-day Rock 'N' Roll festival takes includes such events as the Golden Oldie Car Show, concerts, street dance, fireworks and more. Check out the performances in the big tent on the waterfront. Get your poodle skirts and leather jackets ready because we're gonna rock this summer!

Canada's Irish Festival on the Miramichi

Every year, thousands of people gather on the Miramichi for jam-packed entertainment! There is plenty of Irish music, dance, pubs, family walking parade and a play. Check out the vendors and even do a little research into your family history. When you're ready for a break from the excitement, drop by the Irish Tea Room or enjoy some corned beef & cabbage. Explore this historic city with its breathtaking views of the famous Miramichi River. You'll meet old friends and make new ones. As they say here on the Miramichi, "Cead Mile Failte!" (a hundred-thousand welcomes!).

59th Miramichi Folksong Festival

Join the fun at Canada's longest-standing folk festival! Five days of song and dance featuring authentic traditional and contemporary folk music. From story songs passed on by lumberjacks of old, to modern-day troubadours singing their own compositions, this event has a unique flavour. Concerts featuring singers, dancers and fiddlers, New Brunswick Day breakfast, boat cruise, children's show, noon luncheons with live music and much more.

Napan Agricultural Show
August 11 - 14

Promoting agriculture and community living, this popular fair features Draft & Light Horse competitions, Cattle displays, 4H exhibitors, horticulture, handicrafts, photography & baked goods. Enjoy a country breakfast or indulge with some great "fair food". There are activities for the children featuring the Wild & Wooly and musical entertainment. Come experience a day at the fair!

Air Show Atlantic
August 13 - 14

One of Canada's longest running and successful air shows.MiramichiAirShowAtlantic2016.jpg An over two hour air display highlights a weekend family event that features static aircraft, army vehicles and historical displays, obstacle courses as well as community displays and activities for children. New for 2016 a camp site will allow fans to spend the weekend at the Show site.
