The City’s Public Works Department is responsible for operation and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, drainage, water, wastewater and solid waste collection. The Department has a total of 36 full-time employees.
The Public Works Department is responsible for the following:
- Provision, treatment and distribution of potable water to all customers serviced with municipal water;
- Operate and maintain the facilities necessary to collect and treat wastewater from all customers services with municipal sewer services;
- Maintenance of streets, sidewalks, traffic lights, street lights, storm sewer, ditching, summer maintenance (patching, etc) winter maintenance (snow plowing, snow removal, salting and sanding, etc) and solid waste collection.
These services are provided through a combination of municipal forces and contracted service providers.
